Aims and intentions

This programme gives participants the opportunity to develop an understanding of the critical role of the mentor within the ITT framework. They will develop professional skills required of a mentor, and reflect upon and evaluate the process of mentoring in the school context.

 

Approaches to Teaching and Learning

The programme accredits the work of school-based mentors working with student teachers. Teaching will be through 6 twilight seminars spread across the year.

 

Assessment

Assessment will be through a presentation related to working with student teachers and a written assignment.

Key benefits:

The opportunity for school-based mentors to gain accreditation for the work they do with trainee teachers or NQTs.
